Every year Meier's Flowerland throws it's annual fourth of July fireworks show. Almost everyone in the county knows about it. This year we decided to give them some competition on Fishbone Island. We drove to Ohio countless times making sure our arsenal of fireworks would be at the same level of Meier's. As the 4th approached we were confident we would put up a good show.
On woodland lake, fireworks are a tradition. For almost the entire 4th of July weekend you can sit out by the lake and watch fireworks at night. It was very common to see tons of boats parked out on the lake watching the fireworks and the 3rd of July was no exception. Many of the residents on woodland lake contributed putting on their own fireworks shows. Most were also pretty impressive. We then prepared to give our contribution to the festivities.
At around 10:20 PM the first firework was launched into the air from Fishbone. It was much larger than any that were launched previously that day and Everyone seemed very surprised. Almost instantly more fireworks were launched. At that point the citizens of woodland lake knew they were in for a show. Boats pulled up from every side of the lake and countless people walked to the shores to witness the show. The dazzling fireworks show went on for over an hour. The crowd was very pleased, you could hear all the boat horns honking, Blow horns blowing, and people yelling in excitement. Some people still claim they preferred the Fishbone show over the Meiers show. Overall, Everyone was impressed and we were incredibly happy.
